Race a past ride, point by point.

Create and update pacing targets for Garmin Edge segments.

Create new segment
  1. Choose the activity you want to use to define the new segment.

    Device compatibility note

This creates a new segment, not a modified Strava segment. It remained available through multiple test syncs; check that it is still on your device after your first sync.

Select an original activity FIT file downloaded from Garmin Connect or Strava, or copy it from GARMIN/ACTIVITY/ on a connected Garmin device.

How do I get an activity FIT file?

    Garmin Connect

Open the activity on the Garmin Connect website, select the gear icon and choose Export File. Open the downloaded ZIP file and extract the .fit file inside.

    Strava

Open the activity on the Strava website, open the ellipses menu and choose Export Original. Select the downloaded file only when it ends in .fit.

Export Original returns the originally uploaded format, which is often FIT but may be another format.

    Connected Garmin device

Connect the Garmin Edge with a data-capable USB cable and select an activity file from GARMIN/ACTIVITY/.

Use the original FIT file. GPX and TCX exports are not supported. If the download is a ZIP file, extract it first and select the .fit file inside.

  2. Use the distance sliders or Previous/Next point buttons to set the segment start and end. Use the arrow keys to move the start or end point one recorded GPS point at a time. The green/red map markers remain draggable; every method keeps the boundaries on real points of the ride.

Segment Full ride Selected effort

  1. Add original activity FIT files downloaded from Garmin Connect or Strava, or copied from your Garmin device. Extra rides that may also have covered this segment give you more pacing options for your target rides. New files are added to rides already loaded. Select up to six pacing efforts below, including several matching efforts from the same ride. The segment source ride is available too. How do I get an activity FIT file?

  2. The rides and efforts selected in Step 3 are ready below. Set the name shown on your device, choose exactly one Default and remove any pacing effort you no longer want in the final file.

  3. Review the segment details, then create, validate and download the file in one step.
